The Trinity Sunday is a special feast and church people prepare for it in a special way: the temple is decorated by green plants and flowers in commemoration of the Cenacle, in which the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles and which was also decorated by tree branches and flowers.
The church members, pilgrims from the near and far abroad, guests from Moscow and the Far East have come together for the festal divine service in the Temple in the name of St. John of Shanghai – this festival unites orthodox believers in the same Spirit, indeed. The Divine Liturgy and great vespers are chanted by Bishop Vasilkovsky Tikhon, Presbyter Aleksandr (Veberov) and Deacon Sergey (Kravchenko).
At a sermon Bishop Tikhon wished everyone the unity and reminds about the meaning of and goal in life of the Orthodox Christians, which had been well defined by St. Seraphim of Sarov as acquiring the Holy Spirit.
The vespers service was held after the Divine Liturgy. The kneeling prayers for sending down the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Understanding and the fear of God were said in the course of this service.
The divine service was also held in the Temple in the name of St. John of Shanghai on the day of the Spirit (11.06/24.06.2013).
By old tradition all the church people of our Temple, pilgrims and guests come together to make a common picture and such photos are always full of sun and cheerful smiles.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages.
