The workshops of the House for the Homeless

"In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread"
(Genesis 3:19)

In the abode everybody tries to live by works of their hands, so it is especially important to create the conditions for creative work for the glory of God.
Solving this problem, in the House for the Homeless there were created various workshops including icons workshop, joiner's shop, woodworking workshop, mechanical and sewing shop, forge.

The number of workshops is constantly growing, as the abode receives more and more people in need of assistance. These are often people having problems with alcohol and drug addiction, gambling and suffering mental disorders.

During the years of wandering, homeless people gradually lose heart and idleness, feeling rejected and persecuted by society.

Lord Aleksey tries not to refuse anybody in assistance, so the number of work places constantly increases, manufacturing plants are expanding, new machinery and equipment are purchased.

There is an urgent need to build a separate building of the "Production building of the House for the Homeless": the five-storey building was built, where inside finishing work is now held.

On the ground floor of the building the large garage doors are installed, enabling the arrival of freight transport for shipping materials and loading finished goods, there is a freight lift for submission of materials to the workshops, here is also a machine-shop, on the second floor there are woodworking and joiner's shops; on the third floor there is a workshop with CNC machines and relaxation zone with winter garden, covered with a glass roof; on the fourth there is the iconic workshops for painting icons, on the fifth floor the varnishing of finished products is carried out.

At the moment, in the abode more than a hundred people live and work, so there is a need to develop their own part-time farm: fruits and vegetables are grown and stocked, poultry house and bakery are built.
In times of the economic crisis, long-term construction of the monastery of St. John and the social rehabilitation complex the "House for the Homeless in the name of John of Kronstadt" truly can be considered a visible miracle. The construction would be impossible without the help of many people who are not indifferent to the misfortunes of others.

It is the harvest of big and small things of the spiritual awakening of many people. Each building block is one's demonstration of compassion and love for others.
We invite all wishing to support this good initiative and provide charitable assistance to develop tutorial project the House for the Homeless.
