Charity contains life
St. Gregory of Nyssa said so, referring to eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven of our Lord Jesus Christ. And the Holy Church at every Divine Liturgy prays for philanthropists and charity providers of the holy temples, calling the Lord to give them the rich gifts of heaven.
The words of St. John of Shanghai are in tune with this: “God, Whose throne is heaven and earth foot, does not need churches, we need them. Our sacrifices to the temples are useful for us, but the Lord does not take so much material as our zeal ... Building the temples here on earth, we create eternal chimneys in the heaven. There will be dozens of years, our bodies will decay, and probably nothing would be left from our bones. And our souls will live forever. Blessed is the one, who prepared a residence in the halls of Heaven for his soul! Even if the built church is destroyed, the names of their builders will be recorded in the eternal books of the God, and prayers raptured in them will be sealed”.
Our residence has no permanent sources of funding and is built by the whole world - as monasteries were built anciently in Holy Russia. During the long years of fruitful cooperation of supporters and social rehabilitation center House of diligence a board of trustees - friends of the monastery has been formed.
Master Alexey invites everyone, who wants to visit Zachary and Elisabeth Skeet, to join the charitable deed of church building: “I build this residence for you, you can come here with your family at any time, you can lenten, pray, prepare for communion ...”
We are always glad to see guests dear to our hearts in the monastery, we are ready to show the new workshops and buildings of the House of diligence, we can consult: what else can we do together for development of the monastery; we can celebrate Eastern Orthodox holidays together: to be brothers and sisters in Christ, to bear one another's burdens - so we can find life in Eternity.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to all, who have helped St. John monastery with the construction of the Orthodox Temple and construction of the charity complex “House of diligence”, and invite everyone to fulfill the covenant of St. John of Kronstadt: “Poverty or lack of funds does not serve as an excuse for not wishing to do good. Instead of great gift, bring it. Do you have nothing? – Calm with a tear. Great curer for a sick person is that someone takes pity on him from the heart; his misfortune is eased with sincere condolences... Both reason and law, our own experience, and fair people teach us so”.
